In-House Patent Attorney – Cambridge, Hybrid (2-3 Days in Office) – Up to £110k + Benefits

Our client, a pioneering technology company based in the Cambridge region, is looking for an In-House Patent Attorney to contribute to its expanding IP portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the cutting edge of innovation, collaborating closely with technical, commercial, and legal teams to develop and protect groundbreaking technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of IP and legal matters for one or more product areas at various stages of development.
- Draft and prosecute patents in the UK, Europe, and internationally, working directly with external counsel as needed.
- Conduct patent searches and advise on third-party patent rights.
- Support the company’s IP strategy, risk mitigation, and decision-making on patent filing and maintenance.
- Assist in invention capture, ensuring innovation is properly protected.
- Contribute to the continued development of IP processes, systems, and best practices.
- Prepare IP-related reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Option to expand into IP licensing and commercial agreements, depending on interest.
Skills & Experience Required:
- UK and European qualified Patent Attorney, with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical background – degree or higher in engineering, physics, or a similar field.
- Excellent patent drafting skills and a practical, commercial approach to IP.
- Solid understanding of mechanical device design and physics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset – able to build strong working relationships across teams.
