Governance Manager (Part-Time)
Foundation Scotland
Location Home-based with some travel across Scotland
Salary Circa Β£54,201 per annum (pro-rated to 0.5 FTE).
Reporting to the Head of Finance and Business Services, you will play an important role in ensuring that Foundation Scotland is well governed, accountable and supported by effective governance, risk and assurance arrangements.
You will manage the practical operation of our governance framework and provide high-quality support to our Board, its committees and senior colleagues. This will include coordinating Board and committee business, agendas, papers, minutes and actions; maintaining key governance records, registers, policies and delegated authorities; and supporting trustee recruitment, onboarding, development and succession.
You will also help ensure that governance supports effective decisions, clear accountability and organisational learning. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Business Services, you will support our wider risk, compliance and assurance arrangements. You will coordinate risk registers and reporting, monitor agreed actions, support internal and external assurance activity and help ensure that governance or compliance issues are identified and escalated appropriately.
You will also have the opportunity to improve how we work. As Foundation Scotland develops, we want our governance arrangements to evolve with us, to ensure they remain robust and accountable while also being clear, proportionate and practical. You will bring ideas, identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen processes and help colleagues across the organisation understand and navigate our governance framework.
We are looking for someone with experience of governance administration, Board or committee support, compliance or a comparable corporate governance role. You will understand the principles of effective governance and decision-making and bring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage complex information and competing deadlines.
You will be a confident and clear communicator who can build effective relationships with our Chair, trustees, senior leaders and colleagues across Foundation Scotland. You will handle sensitive information with discretion, exercise sound judgement and be comfortable providing practical guidance and constructive challenge when required.
Experience of charity governance, risk, compliance or assurance would be valuable, as would relevant professional development or qualifications, but these are not essential. More important is that you bring a genuine interest in good governance, a collaborative approach and a commitment to Foundation Scotland's purpose and values.
This is an opportunity to take on a broad and varied governance role at an important point in our development β helping ensure that strong governance supports good decisions, organisational confidence and lasting impact for communities across Scotland.
