This is a high-impact leadership role within our Partnerships & Engagement function, responsible for shaping how we communicate our purpose, missions and investment activity to a wide range of stakeholders - from government and industry partners to investees and the wider public.
You will play a pivotal role in building awareness, understanding and reputation, ensuring the Bank's voice is clear, consistent and compelling across all channels. As Director of Communications, you will design and deliver an integrated communications strategy that brings the Bank's story to life and supports the delivery of our missions to drive sustainable and inclusive growth across Scotland.
Operating in a complex and high-profile environment, you will lead external and internal communications, manage media engagement, oversee events strategy, and ensure alignment with marketing activity. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Executive and Board, and lead a small team to deliver high-quality, impactful communications.
- Communications Strategy & Delivery - Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy to build awareness and understanding across key audiences.
- Content & Storytelling - Develop compelling content across multiple channels, including editorial, digital, video and insight pieces.
- Events & Engagement - Design and deliver an external events strategy, including a flagship annual conference and a programme of stakeholder events.

- Messaging & Brand Alignment - Develop and maintain core messaging, ensuring consistency with tone of voice and brand guidelines across the Bank.
- Internal Communications - Create and deliver an engaging internal communications plan to support alignment and engagement across teams.
- Digital & Channels Oversight - Oversee the Bank's website and social channels to maximise reach and impact.
- Agency Management - Manage external PR and digital agencies to deliver high-quality outputs.
- Leadership & Collaboration - Lead and develop a team of 3, while collaborating across the organisation to identify and deliver communications opportunities.
You will be a senior communications professional with a demonstrable track record of delivering impactful strategies in complex organisations. Significant experience in a senior communications role, proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies that deliver measurable outcomes, and experience working across a full range of channels, including media, digital and internal communications are essential. A sound understanding of how marketing and communications combine to enhance reach and reputation, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is required. Experience in financial services or the public sector would be advantageous, but not essential.
At the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a supportive culture that values your expertise and autonomy, encourages continuous learning, and provides opportunities for meaningful work. The salary range is £85-100k, depending on experience, with additional benefits including 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, volunteer days, and more.
