LHH are working with an esteemed law firm in Bury to recruit a Legal Cashier to their team!
12 month FTC, covering maternity leave
£30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Fully in office, flexible working hours - full-time or part-time - 3 days / 21 hours per week minimum
Responsibilities:
- Manage client and office account transactions, ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
- Process receipts, payments, transfers, CHAPS, BACS and other banking transactions.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Support credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding debt and liaising with fee earners regarding aged balances.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, maintaining accurate VAT records and reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end processes, including control account reconciliations, reporting and ledger reviews.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support audit and compliance requirements.
- Respond to financial queries from colleagues, clients and external stakeholders as required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
- Good working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
- Experience preparing VAT returns and bank reconciliations (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in legal accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
