The Model Portfolio Service (MPS) team is part of the firm’s IFA Portfolio Management function. It delivers investment services to financial advice firms and works with the Bespoke MPS team to support tailored portfolio solutions, partnering with the Business Development and wider Portfolio Management functions to provide a high‑quality service to advisers and clients.

Brief Role Objective

Provide investment and operational support to Portfolio Managers managing bespoke MPS portfolios and the IFA client base. Ensure investment, administrative, organisational and client‑related tasks are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. Engage regularly with the IFA client base, handle enquiries, and support periodic investment committee meetings. Progress through the ranks into a Portfolio Manager role by developing investment and macroeconomic knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in portfolio construction and investment analysis related tasks.
  • Provide performance oversight, risk analysis and reporting for the MPS team.
  • Support relationship management, including handling IFA queries on literature, platform access, performance, portfolio analytics and valuations.
  • Attend research calls to build knowledge of funds held in client portfolios.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports for the IFA client base.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for client investment committee meetings, including writing commentary, presentations and factsheets.
  • Support administrative tasks for the wider MPS team as required.
  • Assist with written communications and white papers, including weekly snapshots and quarterly client reports.
  • Participate in ad‑hoc projects as directed.
  • Attend internal and virtual IFA meetings with Portfolio Managers, taking investment committee minutes.
  • Develop investment knowledge through internal and external research.

Requirements

Key Skills and Technical Requirements

  • Previous front‑office experience, ideally within wealth management.
  • Commitment to professional development, such as maintaining an annual CPD log.
  • Working towards Level 4 CISI Investment Advice Diploma or Investment Management Certificate.
  • Self‑starter and team player capable of taking initiative for own work.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional and prompt handling of all matters without reminders.
  • Conduct role in accordance with company procedures and within authorised levels in a compliant manner.
  • Readily assists the team and the firm in achieving objectives.
  • Undertake additional tasks or specific project work as requested by Portfolio Managers.
  • Effective time management to meet standards of task completion.
  • Adherence to all company‑wide policies, procedures and compliance requirements.

Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
