Business Unit: The Model Portfolio Service (MPS) team forms part of the firm’s IFA Portfolio Management function and is responsible for delivering investment services to financial advice firms. This role will work with the Bespoke MPS team, supporting the delivery of tailored portfolio solutions, working closely in partnership with the Business Development team and the wider Portfolio Management function to provide a high-quality service to advisers and clients.

Brief Role Objective: To provide investment and operational support to Portfolio Managers managing bespoke MPS portfolios and the IFA client base. Responsible for ensuring that investment, administrative, organisational and client related tasks are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. You will have regular contact with the IFA client base, dealing with their enquiries and providing investment and operational support around periodic investment committee meetings. The candidate will be expected to provide ongoing operational support to the wider MPS team and develop investment and macroeconomic knowledge, with a view to progressing through the ranks into becoming a Portfolio Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in portfolio construction and investment analysis related tasks.
  • Performance oversight, risk analysis and reporting for BMPS team.
  • Assist the team with all aspects of relationship management.
  • Attending research calls to build strong knowledge of funds held in client portfolios.
  • Responsible for the production of monthly and quarterly reports for IFA client base.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for client investment committee meetings including writing commentary, presentations and factsheets.
  • Provide support on the administration for the wider MPS team as required.
  • Assist with written communications / white papers, including weekly snapshots and quarterly client reports.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as directed.
  • Attend internal & virtual IFA meetings with Portfolio Managers, acting in a support capacity and taking investment committee minutes.
  • Develop investment knowledge by reading internal and external investment research.

Requirements:

Key Skills and Technical Requirements:

  • Ideally previous experience in Front Office environment, ideally within Wealth Management.
  • Undertakes professional development, such as completing annual CPD (log to be maintained).
  • Working towards Level 4 CISI Investment Advice Diploma/Investment Management Certificate.
  • Ability to take initiative for their own work, a self-starter and team player.
  • Willing to learn quickly and adapt in fast paced environment.
  • Deals with all matters promptly, professionally and effectively without being reminded.
  • Conducts role in accordance with LGT’s procedures, within individual authorisation levels and in a compliant manner.
  • Readily assists the team and the Firm in achieving its objectives.
  • Undertakes other tasks or specific project work as and when requested by the Portfolio Managers.
  • Makes effective use of time in order to carry out tasks to the appropriate standard.
  • Adhere to all company-wide policies, procedures and compliance requirements.

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
