Our business is responsible for contributing to and implementing within portfolios the house view of LGT Wealth Management, for predominantly private clients. We are involved in a broad range of activities including portfolio management, investment analysis and relationship management. Each team prides itself on the quality of service it provides the High Net Worth community ensuring that they have adopted a robust investment process to best manage the investment interests of their clients.

The Central Investment Team provides both a model-based and bespoke discretionary service in line with LGT Wealth Management's house views for Investment Managers and Wealth Managers. The team is responsible for managing portfolios on a day-to-day basis and assisting in the acquisition of new business.

Brief Role Objective:

  • Communications: contributing written and verbal investment communication for the benefit of our external and internal clients
  • Investment Strategy: contributing investment analysis and strategy for the benefit of the team, business and our clients
  • Operational and Team tasks: contributing to the operation of managing portfolios via implementation of trades, as well as acting as a good team member

Key Responsibilities:

  • Written portfolio strategy communications for our monthly and quarterly investment output
  • Assist in the creation of outlook and portfolio strategy slides on a periodic basis
  • Attend client meetings individually or with a senior colleague
  • Present portfolio and market analysis at monthly internal meetings
  • Provide portfolio and market analysis, both proactively and on request
  • Take ownership of a portfolio tactical position and provide analysis and commentary for the benefit of our clients and investment committee
  • Assist in the creation of materials for the investment committee
  • Monitor and maintain a list of portfolios, including ad hoc daily cash management tasks and routine model change trades
  • Managing tailored client criteria within portfolios in line with house views
  • Assist in the maintenance of central models
  • Assisting the team with project work and ad hoc tasks

Requirements:

Key Skills and Technical Requirements:

  • An understanding of all asset classes and portfolio construction within the wealth and asset management industry.
  • Understanding of market cycles, drivers and characteristics, with experience applying this knowledge to portfolio management and positioning.
  • Knowledge in multi-asset portfolio construction and risk management, with sustained framework behind investment process.
  • Communications skills, with the ability to articulate portfolio and trade objectives at both a high level and at more nuanced levels to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience trading major asset classes within private client portfolios; 5+ years’ experience within a similar role is desirable.

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Relevant industry qualifications (including but not limited to IMC or CFA) is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; with the ability to build relationships within the Research Team and also with key Wealth/Investment Manager desks across the Firm.
  • Excellent organisation skills, effective time management and delivery to deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, specifically in the context of portfolio management.
  • Attention to detail with dealing, general portfolio management, reporting and sending documentation externally to clients.
  • Ability to keep abreast of developments in the financial services industry and of all relevant regulatory changes.
  • Ability to take the initiative within an understood framework of scope and authority.
  • Acts at all times in a professional manner and as an ambassador to the Firm.
  • Must be able to easily articulate complex market conditions and solutions to clients.
  • Deals with all matters promptly, professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Conducts role in accordance with LGT’s policies and procedures adhering to the Firm’s compliance guidelines.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated and target driven.
