As a Workshop Engineer at LGH, you will be an integral part of our team dedicated to maintaining the high standards of our lifting equipment fleet. Reporting to the Service Centre Manager, you will primarily work in our workshop located in the UK.
Overview of accountabilities:
- Servicing, Examination, and Testing of Lifting Equipment: Perform meticulous servicing, thorough examination, and rigorous testing of a diverse range of specialist lifting equipment including Air & Electrically powered equipment, ensuring adherence to stringent LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) regulations. Utilise technical expertise to identify potential issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions, guaranteeing the safety and operational efficiency of all equipment.
- Collaboration with Various Departments: Foster strong collaborative relationships with departments such as the hire desk and sales, actively engaging in cross‑functional communication to understand customer requirements comprehensively. Liaise closely with colleagues to coordinate equipment availability, delivery schedules, and any specific customer requests, ensuring seamless fulfilment of orders and exceptional service delivery.
- Priority Management and Decision‑Making: Work in tandem with the Service Centre Manager to assess and prioritise urgent warehouse or customer needs, employing sound judgment and critical thinking to allocate resources effectively and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing competing priorities, balancing the demands of day‑to‑day operations with the overarching objectives of the organisation.
- Effective Communication and Team Coordination: Maintain open lines of communication within the workshop team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment conducive to innovation and continuous improvement. Facilitate transparent communication across the organisation, disseminating relevant information, updates, and best practices to enhance overall efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- LEEA trained (Machines Manual & Powered Course minimum) workshop engineer or Mechanical/Electrical/Pneumatic fitter with service training in engineering.
- Strong communication skills and problem‑solving abilities.
- Possession of a current, clean driving licence.
- Flexibility regarding working hours, including early starts and late finishes.
- Occasional travel within the UK and Europe may be required.
- Proficiency in LEEA (or equivalent) Machines Manual.
Desirable:
- Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship.
- While experience in a similar position is preferred, we are open to training candidates with the right aptitude and attitude.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills, especially under pressure.
- Willingness to diversify job roles to support team members.
- IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
