Purpose of the Role
LGC is excited to welcome a dedicated and detailed Laboratory Technician to our world‑class research team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our clinical and forensic PT/EQA schemes by carefully preparing, handling, and testing samples to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Supporting sample preparation activities including labelling, weighing, dispensing, and capping.
- Producing sample labels in line with planned production schedules.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Assisting in the ordering, storage, and rotation of consumables.
- Carrying out quality control checks following defined QC procedures.
- Helping maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the lab.
You’ll also contribute to the wider achievement of team objectives, follow all relevant health & safety procedures, and take on additional duties as required, offering you great opportunities to grow your skills and experience.
Qualifications
- At least five GCSE passes (or equivalent) in relevant subjects.
- A minimum of one year of work experience, ideally in a laboratory, scientific environment, or an environment focused on consistent methods.
- Strong organisational ability and a methodical, detail‑focused approach.
- The flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
- Confidence with computers and digital record‑keeping systems.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
