Job Description
The Director, Manufacturing and Site Lead role at LGC offers a chance to lead innovative manufacturing in a dynamic setting.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily:
- Lead manufacturing teams and site administration to ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards
- Responsible for personnel activities of direct reports including budgeting, staffing, training, performance evaluations, mentoring and coaching, and goal setting including setting employee objectives linked to business initiatives and other key performance indicators
- Develop and implement operational plans and site priorities
- Drive Operational Excellence to reduce cost, improve efficiency, quality, safety and customer experience
- Ensure manufacturing consistency, quality conformance, and compliance of all product specifications
- Motivate and engage local workforce, identify and nurture critical talent to support business goals
- Ensure a culture that values and promotes compliance, customer happiness, safety, quality, teamwork and goal achievement
- Coordinate and communicate with local business collaborators
- Perform other duties as required to meet business needs
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences, operations, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of a decade of experience within a manufacturing or life sciences organization, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Previous experience with facilities management and/or building maintenance, preferably in lab environments
- Demonstrated success leading, managing, and motivating people
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality systems
- Evident understanding and implementation of Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement concepts
- Proven success managing and developing people, group problem solving, and managing customer relationships in an operational or project environment
- Proficient computer skills required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in engineering or life sciences (biology, biochemistry, genomics) required
- Prior work experience in a biotechnology, medical device, or pharmaceutical organization
- Formal lean manufacturing certifications (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, etc.)
- Experience in Supply Chain and ERP systems
