Under contract to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), LGC hosts and operates the UK's combined Official Medicines Control Laboratory (OMCL) and the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) Commission Laboratory. Our laboratories play a vital role in protecting public health by ensuring medicines and healthcare products are safe for use. The facilities operate under a Government Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) model at our Guildford site.
Location: The Priestley Centre, Surrey Research Park, Guildford
Hours: 25 hours per week, onsite
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–2:00pm
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Administrator to support the efficient operation of our laboratories. Working closely with scientific and operational teams, you will help maintain smooth administrative processes and ensure accurate, well‑organised documentation and workflow across the site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills who thrives in a supportive, purpose‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample & Stock Administration: Receive, register, return, and ensure safe storage of samples; Support the management of stock levels and maintain accurate records; Complete quarterly and annual stock counts as required.
- Documentation & Office Management: Record and organise office documentation (physical and digital); Maintain office and laboratory supplies; place orders when needed; Carry out general office duties, including archiving and postal tasks.
- Communication & Team Support: Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and correspondence professionally; Support team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks; Provide general administrative support across the team.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule meetings and appointments.
Qualifications

- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
