Sports & Specialised Analytical Services (SASS) is an internationally recognised testing laboratory specialising in banned substance and anti-doping testing. We operate in 3 key categories: Animal sports medication and doping control, Human drug testing, and Supplement testing and product certification.
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive Senior Scientist to join our Animal Sports Confirmatory team! As part of our confirmatory analysis team, you will provide a quality analytical chemistry service to customers such as the BHA, IHRB, FEI, and GBGB. Confirmatory analysis is designed to test samples for the presence of the suspected drug, to a standard of legal proof. This includes planning and conducting work (sample extraction and detection) in accordance with the requirements of ISO17025, performing maintenance on scientific equipment (including mass spectrometers), and interpretation of analytical data and presentation of results and conclusions. You will need to be adaptable and perform additional analyses and investigations where required. Also provide expert witness testimony evidence where necessary.

A confident presenter, with the ability to discuss and answer queries with a range of partners and strong interpersonal skills. A hardworking individual with a positive demeanour and attention to detail, with efficient time management, ensuring objectives and tasks are completed on time and to an outstanding standard, and someone who is operationally aware and able to build improvements in output and efficiency.
Educated to degree level in a biological or chemical science. Relevant experience in a scientific environment. Knowledge and experience of mass spectrometry, particularly HRAMS, GC-MS and LC-MS. Excellent laboratory skills. Sound scientific knowledge with experience of chromatography and related techniques.
