LGC’s Diagnostics and Genomics (D&G) Business Unit encompasses a number of entities focussed on the development and manufacture of quality solutions and component materials for the extended life sciences industry.

Job Description

The Senior Scientist I position presents an outstanding chance to join a dynamic and ambitious group devoted to pioneering research.

The Senior Scientist I is capable of

  • Confidently work in a BSL-2 laboratory, adhering strictly to all biological safety guidelines.
  • Thoroughly comprehend, refine directions, and educate other staff members in their areas of expertise.
  • Show an outstanding degree of leadership to plan, implement, and complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop scientific project plans, new workflows, and procedures in their areas of expertise flawlessly.
  • Confidently handle and direct multiple projects at the same time, ensuring world-class results.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of the core concepts within their fields of expertise.
  • Confidently convey the nature, justification, and technical challenges of their projects and the contents of published research to audiences outside of biological sciences.
  • Independently identify and resolve technical or scientific problems within their fields of expertise using established root-cause analysis.
  • Follow all instructions required by and strive for continuous improvement of the local quality management system.
  • Successfully implement new procedures, SOPs, and batch production records.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Ph D or equivalent in biology, chemistry, or related subjects.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a R&D laboratory setting.

Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Extensive practical experience with methods in their areas of expertise.
  • Deep understanding of and practical experience in at least some methods beyond their primary field of expertise.
  • Previous experience in line management, teaching, or student mentoring.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e. g., Power Point, Word, and Excel).
  • Familiarity with particular software programs pertinent to their fields of specialization.
