Within the LGC Standards Division you will thrive as part of the Regulatory Compliance team as an SDS Author. Reporting directly to the local Compliance Manager and the SDS Manager, your role will be pivotal in ensuring detailed regulatory compliance. This is a distinctive opportunity to work closely with Production and Supply Chain teams in Bury, UK.
The core tasks associated with this role consist of composing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and categorising products for distribution and shipping. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in offering regulatory mentorship, counselling team members and customers on product classification. Using our groundbreaking commercial SDS software system, you will aid in ensuring high compliance standards by effectively leading SDS categorisation, writing, and labelling.
We are in search of individuals who are diligent, detailed in their approach, and capable of effectively presenting to various customers. Your ability to work independently as well as with our close-knit team will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities- Formulate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and offer mentorship on labelling that adheres closely to global regulations and company policies.
- Research and interpret regulatory and Health Environment and Safety (HES) requirements including chemical composition, hazard evaluation, fire protection, handling and storage guidelines, PPE selection, and transportation classification.
- Keep abreast of and ensure compliance with international and national regulations (e.g. GHS, CLP, REACH, OSHA, WHMIS, HazCom2012).
- Draft SDS documents and suggest labelling solutions that align seamlessly with global regulations and internal company policies.
- Efficiently implement and lead new processes with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- A shown capability to collaborate within a team setting as well as autonomously.
- Bachelor's degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field with equivalent experience considered.
- Proven experience in SDS authoring or product classification within the chemicals/biological/pharma industry.
- In-depth knowledge of transport regulations (IATA, ADR, DOT, etc.).
- Outstanding ability to apply toxicology and physics/chemistry data to the safe handling of chemicals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to engage with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Strong understanding of customer requirements and expectations to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple assignments concurrently and prioritise to meet demanding deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated with a proven track record of working effectively in team-oriented environments.
- Strong networking skills to build and maintain professional relationships.
