Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of Sample Management activities in the Animal and Human drug testing area, proactively manage the development of that area.
  • Awareness of resource requirements on a day‑to‑day basis and communicate recommendations to the Management Team with the appropriate degree of urgency.
  • Make a positive contribution to cost management through project and resource planning.
  • Provide information and support as required for internal/external audits, including responding to audit findings.
  • Make rational decisions on all department matters.
  • Act in compliance with the Fordham site Health & Safety Policy.
  • Line manage and train other members of the department.
  • Maintain and review documented SOPs.
  • Maintain direct and regular customer contact and, where possible, respond to customer queries with minimal input from the line manager/the Management Team.
  • Ensure work is carried out to the appropriate regulatory standards, e.g. ISO 17025.
  • Proactively seek to improve service delivery and customer relationships.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a laboratory sample management facility is desirable but not essential.
  • Educated to GCSE level; acquiring 5 GCSEs graded 9‑6.
  • Effective time management; ensuring objectives and tasks are completed on time and to an acceptable standard.
  • Good communicator, able to convey written and spoken information accurately and concisely.
  • Team worker, able to work flexibly and with initiative to bring forward ideas.
