Would you like to work in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain? Are you passionate about helping people connect with nature and ensuring the Yorkshire Dales National Park is welcoming and accessible for everyone? If so, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for an experienced Education, Engagement and Wellbeing Manager to join us on a maternity cover contract and help more people discover, enjoy and care for this special place.

Leading a dedicated team, you'll oversee a diverse programme of education, engagement and wellbeing activities that help people of all ages and backgrounds connect with the Yorkshire Dales. You'll work with partners, communities and funders to develop opportunities that support our vision of being a National Park for Everyone.

About Us

We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and waterfalls to an underground labyrinth of caves.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Education, Engagement and Wellbeing team during a period of maternity leave. You'll provide leadership, strategic direction and specialist advice on outdoor group activities, while helping us develop opportunities that connect more people with the National Park.

The Benefits

  • Generous leave: starting at 26 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Pension: Local Government Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • Flexible working: including flexitime, flexi-leave and blended working options
  • Wellbeing benefits: Subsidised Healthcare scheme, family friendly policies, cycle to work scheme, staff discounts and an employee assistance programme
  • Learning and development: Ongoing support for continuing professional development and training
  • Free parking at Authority car parks

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Access and Engagement, you'll lead and support a team delivering educational, community engagement and wellbeing programmes across the National Park. You'll play a key role in developing new projects and partnerships, securing external funding, managing budgets and ensuring projects deliver meaningful outcomes for people and communities.

As the Authority's Safeguarding Officer, you'll ensure that appropriate safeguarding policies, procedures and training remain in place and effective.

You'll also provide strategic advice on opportunities and emerging developments in education, engagement and wellbeing, helping shape future activity across the Authority.

About You

We're looking for someone with experience of leading teams, developing successful projects and building strong partnerships. You'll be a confident communicator who can work effectively with a wide range of people, from community groups and partner organisations to colleagues across the Authority.

You'll have excellent project and people management skills, experience of managing budgets and resources, and the ability to identify priorities and turn ideas into practical outcomes. Experience of securing external funding, safeguarding responsibilities and working with groups in outdoor settings would be advantageous.

Access to a car or access to a means of mobility support to meet travel demands of the post is essential (if driving must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate insurance), as you will be required to travel within the Park in order to undertake this post.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
