About the Aladdin UX Design Team
The Aladdin UX Design team researches and designs the user experience for the Aladdin investment and risk analytics platform which is used by institutional wealth managers and investment professionals worldwide. We practice a human-centered design approach—designing software grounded in user need—to enable our users to tap into the power of BlackRock’s Aladdin enterprise platform. We are a team of skilled UX designers, UI designers, and UX researchers, working to reinvent and improve the Aladdin platform through the user’s lens.
About You
You seek insight into user needs to derive efficient, friendly interaction design. You understand the holistic journey a user takes in order to provide them with valuable tools for task completion. You are not afraid of complexity, depth, and balancing the demands of a wide, varied user base when crafting software. You love owning big interaction problems and providing the thought leadership vital to drive them toward success by collaborating hand-in-glove with product owners and engineers.
As an Associate UX Designer, You Will:
- Conduct user research, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights and identify pain points.
- Capture user needs and partner requirements via research.
- Be able to leverage AI tools to improve user research, ideation, and design workflows.
- Rapidly iterate on design ideas and validate with users.
- Provide detailed wireframes, clickable prototypes, and accompanying specs to implementation teams.
- Proactively seek feedback from senior designers to ensure your designs are as polished as they can be.
- Help govern the quality of our software by closely following and evangelizing our standards.
- Collaborate within the UX team to help define and better our practice.
- Work autonomously, efficiently, and with a positive personality.
Requirements
Experience & Education
- 5+ years of UX design experience, creating and evolving software design for digital products and platforms.
- BFA degree in HCI or a related field.
Work Samples
Portfolio samples that show deep UX thinking and sophisticated problem solving. Candidates who proceed to in-person interviews will be required to perform a small UX design exercise, which they will then present to the team.
Strong Skills
- Application design, with a deep knowledge of standard UX methodologies.
- Communication, with a proven ability to work with product and engineering to see designs accurately realized.
- Designing for AI enhanced digital experiences.
- Public presentation to groups.
- Performing your own research when required, particularly contextual inquiry to understand user journeys and basic usability testing for validation.
- Figma and Axure for wireframing and prototyping.
- Quickly learning new concepts and moving decisively on what you’ve learned.
- Collaboration with a low-ego approach to finding the best possible solutions.
