Senior Power BI Developer - London / Hybrid - 3-month contract - Outside IR35
We're currently supporting a client who is looking to bring in an experienced Power BI Developer on an Outside IR35 contract to help deliver high-quality reporting and analytics solutions across the business with a focus on Finance & Retail data.
This is an excellent opportunity for a contractor who enjoys working across the full Power BI lifecycle, from data modelling and DAX development through to stakeholder engagement and production-ready dashboards.
The role will require 1 day per week onsite at the clients London offices.
The Role
You'll work closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineers and Analysts to design, build and optimise scalable Power BI solutions that enable data-driven decision making.
Key responsibilities include
- Designing and developing Power BI dashboards and reports
- Building robust semantic models using Star Schema principles
- Developing advanced DAX measures and Power Query transformations
- Optimising report performance, datasets and refresh processes
- Integrating data from SQL Server, Azure, Databricks, APIs, Excel and Share Point
- Managing Power BI Service, gateways, deployments and Row-Level Security (RLS)
- Collaborating with engineering teams to determine whether metrics should be calculated within Power BI or upstream in the ETL platform
- Supporting governance, documentation and reporting best practices
Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Power BI Desktop & Service
- Advanced DAX, Power Query (M) and SQL skills
- Strong data modelling expertise using Star Schema
- Experience delivering performant enterprise reporting solutions
- A solid understanding of ETL and data warehousing concepts
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience with developing dashboards focused on Finance & Retail Data
- Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Azure SQL
- Microsoft Fabric
- Databricks
- Azure Dev Ops/Git/CI/CD
- PL-300 certification
- Power Platform (Power Apps/Power Automate)
