Your opportunity
You will be responsible for playing an integral leadership role for the overall management and direction of all Corporate Accounting departmental operations and staff, primarily within the Expenses team. You will provide leadership and direction for activities related to corporate financial policies and procedures, consolidations and corporate governance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain the company’s system of accounts and keep books and records on all company transactions and assets.
- Responsible for all general accounting and control activities such as journal entries, consolidations, account analysis and reconciliation, maintenance of account structures, ensuring the integrity of data reflected in the corporate financial systems and coordination of the monthly closing processes.
- Function as a primary point of contact with external auditors and coordinates the collection of all data required for such audits.
- Keep abreast of “best practices” in the areas of corporate governance and internal controls and incorporates such practices into the company’s systems and processes, as appropriate.
- Provide overall management and direction of staff in specific accounting function(s).
- Make decisions regarding employment, performance appraisals, training and development, disciplinary actions, and salary adjustments.
- Liaise with management in other departments within the organization to understand their initiatives, explore potential impacts on financial reporting and accounting, and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Act as a liaison in providing required financial information in response to auditor, SEC and IRS requests and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.
- Be responsible for overall functionality of accounting and other related software.
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, systems and internal work standards in an effort to enhance efficiency.
- Manage all aspects of departmental projects.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, and execute all phases of SOX compliance including project scoping, leading walkthroughs, identifying/validating key controls, and reporting results to management, internal and external audit.

Must have skills
- Ten or more years of related accounting experience required
- CPA preferred
- Combination of public accounting and/or industry experience required
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
