Senior Associate or Vice President, Real Estate and ABS Solutions in London

Department Overview: Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. We have taken market-leading positions across the globe by leveraging the strength of our talent, client relationships and technology.

Responsibilities Key Role Activities:

• Underwrite, structure and execute structured financings backed or secured by real estate, with focus on value-add CRE and development in select asset classes.
• Research asset classes and markets relevant to potential or existing transactions to form trading views and inform transaction underwriting, structuring and risk management.
• Coordinate transaction due diligence and execution work streams with third party advisers and legal counsels.
• Model transactions throughout their lifecycles (origination, underwriting and post-closing).
• Work in partnership with our client coverage teams to identify and assess opportunities and contribute to transaction idea generation.
• Prepare internal transaction approval memos and collaborate with credit risk and other control functions throughout transaction lifecycle.

Qualifications Role Requirements:

• At least 3-5 years or equivalent of Real Estate Structured Finance underwriting experience in an investment bank or a buy-side outfit.
• Strong understanding of real estate / mortgage backed loans essential; relevant experience in Real Estate lending teams desirable.
• Candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in RE-backed credit structuring, and comfort with loans documentation.
• Strong quantitative and technical abilities including financial modelling and excellent attention to detail.
• Proven project management, analytical and credit skills. Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage a workload spanning across execution, asset management, and origination increasingly over time.
