Your opportunity: Janus Henderson is undertaking a firm-wide AI Transformation program to embed AI capabilities across every business function. The AI Business Partner is a new role at the heart of this effort — you will be embedded directly within a business unit, working side-by-side with teams to identify high-value AI opportunities, build practical solutions, and drive measurable adoption. Over time, you will rotate across departments, carrying proven patterns and solutions with you and adapting them to new contexts.

This is not a training role that sits on the sidelines, and it is not a pure technology role that builds in isolation. You will operate at the intersection of business process expertise, AI solution development, and change enablement — translating real workflow pain points into working AI solutions that people actually use.

You will be part of the Innovation team and work within the AI Academy framework, partnering closely with department AI champions (Air Traffic Controllers) and advanced users (Fighter Pilots) to scale AI capability from within the business. Your primary toolkit today is the Microsoft Copilot ecosystem, but the firm’s AI strategy is platform-agnostic — you will be expected to evaluate, learn, and deploy new tools as they emerge.

Embed within an assigned business unit to discover, scope, and prioritise AI use cases by working directly with teams to understand their workflows, pain points, and opportunities — then rotate to new departments, bringing replicable solutions with you.

Work with teams to agree practical measures of success so impact is clear and visible for AI initiatives, ensuring all solutions are aligned with strategic business objectives and progress and benefits are captured in a simple, transparent way.

Design and build intelligent solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and the broader M365 ecosystem — from rapid prototypes to scalable, reliable agents that can be adopted by business teams.

Conduct ongoing research into emerging AI technologies—such as Claude desktop, agentic AI platforms, and custom LLM applications—to identify and evaluate their suitability for the firm’s evolving toolkit. Actively investigate alternative tools and approaches, building robust use cases through experimentation and analysis to determine where these technologies can add value and drive innovation within the organization.

Shape simple value cases for priority initiatives, linking ideas to expected business benefits, clearly linking proposed AI solutions to measurable KPIs such as hours saved, quality improvement scores, risk reduction percentages, and revenue growth figures. Track and report these outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and to enable data-driven decision-making.

Analyze current business capabilities and use cases to tailor coaching and upskilling for business users in prompt engineering, effective AI tool usage, and solution design—ensuring training is relevant, impactful, and builds lasting departmental capability that could be scalable.

Collaborate with departmental AI champions (ATCs) to strategically identify, mentor, and develop “Fighter Pilots”—the next generation of AI leaders—who will drive, sustain, and scale AI adoption within their departments, ensuring continuity and long‑term impact of the AI strategy beyond your initial enablement phase.

Help teams quickly assess which AI opportunities are worth pursuing, how they can scale, and the best route to delivery, guiding decisions on whether each opportunity should be owned by business users, AI Business Partners, process automation teams, Technology, or an external development partner.

Document reusable prompts, patterns, and lessons learned so successful solutions can be shared and adapted across teams in the firm’s AI knowledge base, ensuring clear, context-independent records that enable seamless cross‑departmental replication and understanding.

Work closely with Technology and relevant control partners to help solutions move safely and smoothly from idea to adoption, actively coordinating to ensure all AI solutions are safe, responsible, and aligned with the firm’s expectations on security and data privacy.

Stay current with evolving AI capabilities — Copilot feature releases, agentic AI patterns, new tooling — and translate these into practical applications for your business units.

What success looks like:

  • Business units can identify, priorities and safely adopt AI opportunities with increasing confidence.
  • Practical AI solutions are actively integrated into real workflows across the business, delivering quantifiable benefits—such as increased efficiency, improved quality, or reduced risk—with transparent ownership and accountability for outcomes. The impact of your efforts is visible in real time throughout the organization.
  • Reusable patterns, prompts, agents, and playbooks are proudly documented with an emphasis on clarity and replicability, enabling their successful adoption and adaptation across similar use cases in multiple departments.
  • As the primary source of expertise and guidance, you lead by example—ensuring department AI champions and Fighter Pilots are fully equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to independently sustain and scale AI adoption after your initial enablement phase.

What to expect when you join our firm:

  • Hybrid working and reasonable accommodations.
  • Generous Holiday policies.
  • Excellent Health and Wellbeing benefits including corporate membership to Wellhub.
  • Paid volunteer time to step away from your desk and into the community.
  • Support to grow through professional development courses, tuition/qualification reimbursement and more.
  • Maternal/paternal leave benefits and family services.
  • All employee events including networking opportunities and social activities.
  • Lunch allowance for use within our subsidized onsite canteen.

Must have skills:

  • Hands‑on experience building solutions with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), or similar low‑code/no‑code AI tooling — you should be able to take a business problem and turn it into a working agent or automation.
  • Demonstrable experience with multiple AI/GenAI tools and platforms — you are not locked into one ecosystem and can evaluate, learn, and deploy new tools as they emerge.
  • Strong business analysis capability — you can map complex business processes, identify where AI adds genuine value, and distinguish between problems that need AI and problems that need better process.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across all levels — equally comfortable presenting ROI cases to senior leaders as you are coaching a team member through their first prompt.
  • Practical experience with change management or technology adoption — you understand that building a solution is half the job; getting people to use it is the other half.
  • Working knowledge of prompt engineering and GenAI application design — not just using AI tools, but designing multi‑step workflows, agent architectures, and conversational experiences.
  • Self‑directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity — you will be embedded in business teams without a detailed playbook, expected to support identification of what matters most and act on it.
  • Strong documentation instincts — you create clear, reusable guides, solution templates, and training materials that outlast your direct involvement.

Nice to have skills:

  • Direct experience in financial services or asset management — understanding of investment processes, client service, middle and back office workflows is very beneficial to the applicant.
  • Experience designing practical technology solutions in environments where security, data sensitivity, and responsible delivery matter.
  • Deep familiarity with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem — SharePoint, Teams, Dataverse, Azure AI services — and how they interconnect.
  • Background in engineer, consulting, internal advisory, or embedded specialist roles where you had to earn credibility and deliver results without direct authority.
  • Experience with ROI measurement and value tracking for technology implementations — building the case, defining the metrics, and following through on outcomes.
  • Understanding of data governance, responsible AI principles, and the emerging regulatory landscape for AI.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or coaching others in technology adoption — particularly non‑technical users.
  • Product management sensibility — ability to think in terms of MVPs, iteration, user feedback, and feature prioritisation.
  • Microsoft certifications in AI, Power Platform, or Copilot Studio.

Supervisory responsibilities: No — but you will be expected to support Fighter Pilots within your assigned business units as part of the AI Academy approach.

Potential for growth:

  • Mentoring.
  • Leadership development programs.
  • Regular training.
  • Career development services.
  • Continuing education courses.
  • Microsoft AI and Power Platform certification pathways.
  • Exposure to a firm‑wide AI transformation programme with direct executive visibility.
  • Opportunity to shape a new function — the AI Business Partner model is being established for the first time at Janus Henderson, with scope to define how the role scales across the organisation.
