We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consulting Actuary to join our team. The role is suitable for members of the actuarial team that are keen to pursue a consulting role and that have usually attained a Scheme Actuary certificate or act as lead consultant on some corporate projects. It may also include the role of a Team Leader, which involves working alongside others involved in Client Consulting, to ensure that all operational tasks within the team are conducted on a day to day basis and liaising with Partners to agree priorities. We offer excellent progression opportunities through to Partner.
Our services are designed to support trustees and employers by delivering pragmatic advice which brings clarity to complex issues such as investing assets, de-risking, longevity, risk management and the impact of legislative changes. We undertake a range of services for clients including full-service actuarial consulting, investment consultancy and standalone projects such as mergers and acquisitions.
- Client Consulting; Acting as the main contact, providing advice for a range of clients
- Manage a client team, ensuring work is of a high quality and within agreed timescales
- Support Partners in managing client relationships, identifying any problems that arise (e.g. level of fees/ poor service) and helping resolve them as soon as possible
- Designing and managing surveys and using statistical techniques in order to analyse and interpret the quantitative data collected
- Attend client meetings and identify ways that we can help our clients and report new initiatives
- Use of a variety of techniques and theoretical principles to establish probability and risk in respect of areas such as pensions
- Check work of other team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with scheme rules, procedures and legislation
- Provide advice to clients on how they might achieve their objectives while satisfying the requirements of relevant external parties (e.g. the Pensions Regulator)
- When leading the corporate accounting appointment actively look for opportunities to support the company with other relevant BW services
- Often this role will include working toward/developing own portfolio of Scheme Actuary/Adviser appointments or Corporate appointments
- Give external talks as and when required
- Identify ways that the firm (including other practice areas) can help our clients and report new initiatives to either the Trustee or Corporate Consulting Board
- Proactive in managing and developing marketing initiatives and identify opportunities for new business, assisting in new business tenders and pitches

- Qualified actuary - Fellowship Actuarial Qualifications FIA / FAA or equivalent
- DB Pension experience
- Demonstrated experience leading a team and excellent people management skills
- Good IT skills
- Project management and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills and good networking skills
- Ability to take forward new ideas
- A willingness to communicate and pass on knowledge and develop junior members of the team
