Team Overview
Insurance Advisory & Insurance Investment Solutions is a team of insurance specialists that collaborates with partners from across the BlackRock platform to deliver focused solutions for insurance clients. The team is comprised of Insurance Investment professionals, with diverse backgrounds spanning asset management, investment banking, insurance, and consultancy. We use our collective insurance, analytics, and investment expertise to ensure BlackRock identifies and delivers effective and commercial investment propositions that address the needs of our insurance clients.
Role Responsibilities
This is a role based in London within the Insurance Investment Solutions team. The remit areas encompass all insurance segments across EMEA, in particular larger Continental European markets and the UK. The ideal candidate would possess deep segment expertise and strong technical capabilities, alongside the interpersonal skills needed to engage on complex client engagements and contribute to BlackRock’s insurance business. The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Apply technical expertise to analyze client balance sheet challenges and develop actionable investment strategies and solutions, using ALM, strategic asset allocation, and capital management techniques.
- Build effective internal relationships with portfolio managers, client relationship managers, and technology teams to provide a solid foundation for developing business in the region.
- Deliver complex investment advisory and solution design engagements, working with partners to leverage and deploy advisory capabilities alongside engagement with BlackRock portfolio managers.
- Monitor regulatory, accounting, and capital frameworks affecting investment, product development, and risk management decisions for insurance companies.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and segment developments.
- Contribute technical input to inform the firm’s strategy for insurance clients and support the development of the BlackRock platform.
Knowledge/Experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on collaborating with team members and engaging with clients on technical topics.
- Proven ability to identify, analyse and strategise on themes and market events which are relevant for the business, and work with partners to influence BlackRock’s response.
- Significant, relevant industry experience in asset management, investment banking, consultancy, or insurance.
- Experience in client and stakeholder engagement to address investment challenges.
- Practical experience in the analysis, design and implementation of investment and ALM strategies utilised by insurers when managing assets invested to meet liabilities.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary groups to deliver focused insurance capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance company business models, regulatory and accounting constraints, and the application of insurance and fund regulation.
- Understanding of regional insurance liabilities.
- Skills suitable for an investment-related actuarial or technical role in insurance, reinsurance, or banking.
