Purpose of Role
Support the development and implementation of Man Group's global internal and external communications strategy. The Communications team works as one global team across all disciplines, supporting each other closely. This role will report into the Americas’ lead to predominantly support on EMEA and APAC activity arising from the US in order to provide excellent continuity across geographies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver best‑in‑class, proactive advice and execution across all areas of communication, including reputation management, internal communications, and media relations for Man Group.
- Support and manage the creation and distribution of high‑quality communications materials, including press releases, thought leadership content, media FAQs, client communications, social media, and employee announcements.
- Serve as one of the primary executors of activity relating to the firm’s Systematic capabilities in EMEA and APAC.
- Build and maintain relationships with local media through networking events, coffees/lunches, and hosting media events, such as roundtables/panels.
- Regularly mine the news to identify interesting angles to insert spokespeople, as well as keep executives updated on relevant peer activity/industry developments.
- Prepare spokespeople for interviews by drafting briefing materials, holding mock sessions, and assisting with organising/supporting media trainings.
- Draft and send media pitches on a rolling basis, leveraging Man Group’s content/announcements/capabilities to secure contributed commentary and interview opportunities.
- Arrange and facilitate media interviews and follow‑up, ensuring Compliance and regulatory requirements are strictly enforced.
- Identify/pitch/manage earned speaking opportunities at EMEA conferences.
- Monitor for media coverage and circulate activity roundups and summaries.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing internal communications and manage logistics for employee events, including room bookings, drafting/distributing invitations, and coordinating AV support.
- Build a strong internal network to collaborate and ensure proper feedback loops with key investment executives, functional heads, Sales & Marketing, and Legal & Compliance.
- Support the direction and efficient usage of Man Group’s global network of retained PR agencies.
- Draft corporate social media content for the Man Group page and for select Executive Committee members, including leveraging relevant media coverage on social profiles.
- Review/edit employee communications from the People team, senior executives and various employee resource groups on an ad hoc basis.
- Assist with delivery of financial results, as required.
- Help foster the development of the team Apprentice, including supporting their activities and identifying areas that they can get involved with.
Skills & Experience
- 3 – 5 years of communications experience in financial or professional services, preferably with PR agency experience.
- A strong understanding of and interest in asset management, preferably hedge funds, is required.
- Financial communications experience would be beneficial but not essential.
- Experience engaging institutional and retail investment trade media in the UK with pan‑European and Asia experience is desirable.
- Social media interest and experience is preferred.
- Excellent writing skills with experience drafting press releases, FAQs, and thoughtful briefing notes.
- Incredible attention to detail, including proofreading communications content.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing tasks with efficiency and a calm manner under pressure.
- Friendly, collaborative team player with an aptitude for networking – internally and externally – as well as a particular passion for media relations.
- Ability to be a self‑starter and independent worker when required.
- High level of discretion is required.
