Skills and Competencies
  • Must have strong passion for climate and atmospheric science, supported by appropriate academic/research background.
  • A few years of experience in climate risk analytics in re-insurance, financial services, and/or catastrophe modelling is preferred.
  • Strong curiosity and deep interest in understanding end-user business needs, market trends and driving successful products into Insurance, Banking or other relevant markets.
  • Able to lead multiple projects across international cross-functional teams, have excellent organization and time management skills, and be able to build solid relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and versatility in engaging in technical subjects to a varied client base, with the ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical and business end-users.
  • A consultative approach to internal and client interactions and ability to manage conflicting inputs and handle changing priorities effectively.
  • An excellent team player with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated capability to leverage state-of-the-art science and cutting-edge technology, including AI, to develop practical solutions.
  • Product management and/or Cat modeling experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • At times the job requires flexibility and long hours; some travel is required.
Education

The ideal candidate will hold a MSc or PhD in a climate-related field such as climate science, meteorology or related, with a deep interest in the application of climate science into financial services decision making.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Model Product Manager to engage in activities that drive the commercial success of Moody’s RMS’ Climate Change Models. This role will focus on deepening and expanding our modeling capabilities to meet current and future market demand.

  • Be the Product Manager for the Moody’s RMS global Climate Change Models product suite, spanning future risk associated with tropical and extra-tropical cyclone, coastal and inland flood, wildfire and severe convective storm.
  • Define the Why and the What and package this in product requirements, cooperating closely with the team of model developers responsible for converting science into algorithms and engines that can then be delivered to customers.
  • Lead go-to-market activities, enabling product support, customer success and sales organization about the new capabilities.
  • Support marketing and thought leadership efforts for Moody’s physical climate capabilities which articulate the value and competitive distinction of the RMS modeling approach.

While the position is open in the UK, we are also happy to consider qualified candidates based in the U.S. East Coast.
