An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join a well-established contractor operating within the UK's Transmission & Distribution sector. This is far more than a traditional Project Manager role. The successful candidate will initially take responsibility for delivering electrical substation packages before progressing into a senior leadership position, helping to establish and grow a brand-new Electrical Division. Working closely alongside the Directors, you'll have genuine influence over the future direction of the business whilst delivering major National Grid and DNO projects across the UK.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing electrical packages from pre-construction through to commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget. Initially, projects will be delivered through specialist subcontractors, with the opportunity to build and lead your own in-house delivery team as the division grows. The role includes managing HV and LV cable installations, Protection & Control systems, cable containment, control building fit-outs, marshalling kiosks, SCADA interfaces, testing and commissioning, whilst coordinating all electrical interfaces with civil and structural works. You’ll also support tender submissions, mentor engineers and supervisors, develop delivery procedures and quality systems, and identify opportunities for future growth within the Transmission & Distribution sector.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager with a proven background delivering high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects. You’ll have extensive experience working on National Grid and DNO schemes, managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and client relationships, with a strong understanding of 33kV-400kV substations, Protection & Control systems, electrical installation, commissioning and live substation environments. This role would particularly suit someone currently working for a specialist Transmission & Distribution contractor who is looking for the opportunity to step into a senior leadership position and help build an Electrical Division from the ground up.
Package
£90,000 basic salary, up to 10% performance bonus, £7,000 annual car allowance, 32 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays), company pension, hybrid working and genuine long-term career progression into senior leadership.
