Part-Time Estimator – Passive Fire Protection / Fire Doors

Location: Tameside (Office Based) Rate: £350 per day Working Pattern: 2–3 Days Per Week (Flexible)

An established and rapidly growing specialist contractor within the passive fire protection industry is looking to appoint an experienced Part-Time Estimator to join their commercial team on a flexible basis.

Working from their office in Tameside, you'll play a key role in pricing a wide variety of fire door installation, refurbishment and compliance projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and public sector environments.

The business delivers nationwide passive fire protection solutions including fire door installations, fire door inspections, fire compartmentation and fire stopping works, with projects ranging from small remedial packages through to large multi-site programmes.

The Role

As the Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate, commercially competitive tenders and quotations while working closely with Directors, Surveyors and Project Managers.

Typical responsibilities will include

  • Producing detailed estimates and tender submissions for passive fire protection works.
  • Pricing fire door installation, refurbishment and remedial packages.
  • Reviewing drawings, schedules of works, specifications and fire door survey reports.
  • Undertaking take-offs and material quantification.
  • Obtaining and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Preparing cost breakdowns and value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaising with clients throughout the tender process.
  • Assisting with handover meetings for successful projects.
  • Maintaining pricing databases and estimating records.

About You

We're looking for someone who has previous estimating experience within one or more of the following:

  • Passive Fire Protection
  • Fire Door Installation
  • Fire Door Remedials
  • Fire Compartmentation
  • Interior Fit-Out with Fire Compliance experience
  • Specialist Construction Estimating

You'll ideally have

  • Previous estimating experience within the passive fire industry.
  • Strong understanding of fire door sets, ironmongery, certification and compliance.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
