Senior Project Managers Required – Power & Substations
An established and rapidly expanding specialist contractor operating within the UK's Power, Transmission & Distribution sector is looking to recruit 2 experienced Senior Project Managers to support the continued growth of its nationwide operations.
The business delivers complex Electrical Infrastructure, High Voltage (HV), Substation and Transmission projects, providing turnkey solutions including design coordination, structural steel installation, primary plant installation, mechanical installation, earthing systems and full EPC delivery across National Grid and DNO frameworks.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple high-value Power & Substation projects across the UK, leading multidisciplinary project teams from pre-construction through to commissioning and final handover.
You'll be expected to provide strong technical, commercial and operational leadership while maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
Regular nationwide travel will be required, with accommodation and business expenses fully covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple HV, Power and Substation projects across the UK.
- Manage projects from tender handover through to completion and client handover.
- Take full responsibility for programme, cost, quality and commercial performance.
- Lead Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors across multiple live projects.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, procurement schedules and resource plans.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, variations and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
- Chair client progress meetings and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, construction methodologies and engineering documentation.
- Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning and energisation activities.
- Produce regular project reports for senior management.
- Mentor and develop junior Project Managers and site management teams.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
- Support business development by maintaining excellent client relationships and identifying future opportunities.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven background delivering major electrical infrastructure projects within the Power, Utilities or Transmission & Distribution sectors.
You'll be an organised and commercially astute leader, capable of managing multiple complex projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and client satisfaction.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager within the Power, Utilities or Infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience delivering High Voltage (HV), Substation or Electrical Infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of National Grid and DNO project delivery.
- Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors.
- Strong programme planning and resource management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
- Excellent client-facing, leadership and communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable Experience
- National Grid Person competencies or previous National Grid framework experience.
- Transmission & Distribution project experience.
- Structural steel installation knowledge.
- Primary plant installation experience.
- Mechanical installation and earthing experience.
- NEC Contract knowledge.
- HNC, HND or Degree qualified in an Engineering or Construction-related discipline.
- SMSTS, Temporary Works or Appointed Person qualifications.
