The Opportunity
We are currently working on behalf of an established EHV and civil engineering contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced EHV Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
This is a high-priority appointment, with a significant and increasing volume of tenders currently being managed.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for EHV, electrical infrastructure and associated civil engineering projects.
The position would suit an ambitious Estimator with a strong background in EHV, HV, utilities, substations, electrical infrastructure and/or civils, who is looking for an opportunity to take ownership of tenders and contribute directly to the company's continued growth.
The role is available on either a permanent or long-term contract basis, with immediate availability preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders for EHV, electrical infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
- Analyse tender documents, drawings, specifications and scopes of work to establish accurate project requirements.
- Produce detailed Bills of Quantities (Bo Qs), measurements, take-offs and project pricing.
- Prepare and issue enquiries to suitable subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
- Analyse, adjudicate and incorporate subcontractor and supplier quotations into tender submissions.
- Work closely with Commercial Managers and operational teams on cost planning, tender strategy and project requirements.
- Identify commercial risks, exclusions, opportunities and potential cost-saving measures throughout the tender process.
- Provide recommendations for value engineering and alternative technical or commercial solutions where appropriate.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids within required deadlines and support tender review meetings.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and collaborate with project, commercial, engineering and operational teams.
About You
We're looking for an experienced EHV Estimator who understands the complexities of pricing major electrical infrastructure and/or civil engineering projects.
- Proven Estimating experience within EHV, HV, utilities, power, substations and/or civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of EHV/HV infrastructure projects and associated construction activities.
- Experience preparing tenders from drawings, specifications, Bo Qs and detailed scope documentation.
- Strong measurement, take-off, pricing and cost-analysis skills.
- Experience obtaining, analysing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify project risks and opportunities.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while working to demanding deadlines.
- A driven, ambitious and commercially focused approach.
