About Us
London Fire Solutions has been delivering passive fire protection since 2011.
We install, survey and maintain fire doors and fire stopping systems across London, the South Coast and the Midlands, and we manufacture from our own 21,000 sq ft facility in Gillingham, Kent.
We have ambitious expansion plans through to 2030, and this role sits right at the heart of them.
The role
We're looking for an experienced estimator from the passive fire industry to price and win work across our fire door, fire stopping and maintenance workstreams.
You'll be based at our Gillingham office, working closely with our commercial, operations and bid teams, and visiting site where a job needs eyes on it.
- Day To Day You Will
- Price fire door installation, replacement and remedial works, fire stopping and compartmentation packages, and planned/reactive maintenance contracts
- Take off from drawings, surveys and specifications, and query anything that doesn't stack up
- Build up rates covering labour, materials, plant, access and preliminaries
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive quotations
- Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings and client meetings as needed
- Work with the bid team on tender submissions and framework opportunities
- Hand won work over cleanly to operations with a clear, well-documented pricing basis
- Review completed jobs against estimate and feed the lessons back into future pricing
- What we’re looking for
- Proven estimating experience within the passive fire protection industry
- Genuine competence across both fire stopping and fire doors - we need someone comfortable in both disciplines
- Experience of maintenance and planned works programmes (social housing experience is a real advantage)
- Strong understanding of third-party accreditation, fire door standards and current fire safety legislation
- Confident reading drawings and specifications, and producing accurate take-offs
- Good commercial judgement - you know where the risk sits in a price
- Organised, methodical, and able to juggle several enquiries against deadlines
- Strong Excel skills and clear written communication
- Full UK driving licence
