As our

Driver Trainer , you'll take responsibility for delivering driver induction programmes, assessments, refresher training, and compliance monitoring across the business.

You'll work closely with our Fleet, HR, and Operations teams to ensure all drivers meet the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and legal compliance.

The role will also develop into supporting wider compliance, operational, and process training throughout the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and grow LF&E's training function while making a real impact on employee safety, fleet performance, and patient service delivery.

Role Details

  • Based in Swadlincote
  • Regular travel to LF&E sites across the UK
  • Frequent on-road driving assessments
  • Flexibility to accommodate early starts, later finishes, and occasional weekend work
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required

Key Responsibilities

  • Driver Induction & Assessment
  • Deliver driver induction training to all new starters who drive company or lease vehicles
  • Conduct on-road driving assessments before drivers are authorised to drive independently
  • Verify driving licences, entitlements, and endorsements
  • Identify training needs and risk factors during assessments
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of training materials and programmes
  • Provide constructive coaching and feedback to improve driving standards
  • Ongoing Driver Training & Compliance
  • Plan and deliver refresher and defensive driving training
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Provide training on seasonal and vehicle-specific driving hazards
  • Conduct routine licence checks and maintain driver compliance records
  • Investigate driving incidents, accidents, and near misses
  • Deliver targeted follow-up coaching and retraining where required
  • Support fleet safety initiatives and risk reduction strategies
  • Stay up to date with road safety legislation, driving regulations, and Highway Code updates
  • Assist in the delivery of broader operational and compliance training
  • Administration & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate training, assessment, and compliance records
  • Produce reports on training completion, driver compliance, and outstanding actions
  • Support audits and inspections relating to fleet and driver compliance
  • Work closely with HR, Fleet, and Operations teams regarding new starters, performance management, and compliance matters

Skills & Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points

• Recognised Driver Trainer or Assessor qualification such as

  • Ro SPA
  • IAM Road Smart
  • Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
  • Equivalent fleet driver risk qualification
  • Experience delivering training, coaching, or assessments
  • Proven experience driving commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tonnes)
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and email
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
  • Calm, professional, and patient approach

Desirable

  • Experience within healthcare, logistics, care, or other regulated industries
  • Knowledge of fleet risk management
  • Experience using telematics and vehicle tracking systems
  • First Aid at Work qualification
