We are looking for a dedicated Same Day Delivery Driver to join our team, supporting the delivery of time-critical pharmaceutical products nationwide.
About the Role
This role involves delivering temperature-controlled medication nationwide, primarily to patients in their homes, as part of our same-day delivery service. This is not a standard driving role; same-day pharmaceutical deliveries are urgent, time‑critical, and require a high level of flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting and delivering same-day, temperature‑controlled medication via pre‑planned routes
- Safely transporting sensitive items to patients’ homes and pharmacies
- Ensuring deliveries are completed securely, accurately, and on time
- Inspecting and maintaining your vehicle, reporting any issues promptly
- Working collaboratively with the wider driver network and management team
- Adhering to UK and EU regulations, including MHRA guidelines and Good Distribution Practices
- Providing a high standard of customer service, acting with care, empathy, and professionalism
Role Details:
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Hours: 45 hours per week
- Working Pattern: 5 days per week, primarily Monday to Friday
- Optional Saturday work may be available
- Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
Shifts, Flexibility & Work Allocation:
- Start times vary depending on workload and can be as early as 2:00am
- Finish times vary daily based on delivery schedules and distances
- Full flexibility is essential
Standby (Not On-Call):
- This is not a formal on‑call role; however, drivers will have standby days
- Must be available between 08:00 and 16:00
- Jobs may be assigned at any time during this window
- Full day rate is paid, even if no job is assigned
Job Allocation:
- No fixed rota due to the nature of same‑day work
- Jobs are typically issued between 13:00–15:00 the day before
- Same‑day jobs are also common
Fairness & Balance:
- Shift patterns are managed fairly across the team
- Early starts and longer days are balanced where possible
- Drivers are trained across the network to support flexibility
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous multi‑drop delivery experience (preferred)
- Strong geographical knowledge
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Highly organised, reliable, and professional
- A caring and empathetic approach to patient interaction
- Flexibility to meet the demands of same‑day logistics
- Full UK manual driving licence (minimum 3 years, max 6 points)
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo DBS and reference checks
