Our client based close to Waterlooville, Hampshire has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join their growing team. We are seeking a quality assurance professional who is meticulous about meeting standards and customer expectations and committed to improving business performance.
As a Quality Engineer, you will ensure that the product or service our client provides is fit for purpose, correct against drawings, consistent, and meets both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations. You will also support the Quality Manager in maintaining ISO14001 requirements.
Responsibilities- Carry out inspections such as first off, last off, incoming and outgoing goods, of detailed parts, assemblies and documentation in a timely and efficient manner, using mechanical or electronic measuring equipment.
- Verify components meet specification and customer requirements using detailed drawings, customer conditions of supply, company procedures and layouts.
- Handle the final release of parts to customers, including raising and signing certificates of conformity, completing First and Last Article Inspection reports as required, and managing the non‑conformance process.
- Interface with customers, suppliers and personnel on quality requirements and non‑conformances, reporting all component and documentation non‑conformances using the appropriate documents and forms to the relevant Team Leader and Supervisor.
- Complete Production Orders and associated documents in relation to the inspected/released components, maintain relevant records, verify other employees’ documentation, and provide necessary feedback and training when required.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated, accurate and fit for purpose, notifying the relevant person/department if this is not the case.
- Actively support and contribute to continuous improvement programmes and lean manufacturing projects such as applying 6S, Kanban and maintaining waste management.
- Help ensure the company follows and maintains ISO14001 requirements.
- Prepare non‑conformance control reports, including root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of completed actions.
- Conduct internal audits against the relevant standard/certification held.
- Maintain a good understanding of documentation control and management in accordance with AS9100.
- Represent quality at Tier meetings to provide feedback and support to all departments.
- Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience desired.
- AS9100/ISO9001 auditing experience desired.
- Lean manufacturing knowledge desired.
