We strive to provide high quality education and support to our students in fulfilling their academic potential and becoming thinking, questioning and caring members of society. We are a diverse and vibrant college, and we are proud of the success and achievements of our students and staff.

At the heart of our culture and ethos is our commitment to being a responsive, innovative, and forward-thinking College and a thriving learning community. The Visual Arts Department at Leyton Sixth Form College is a busy and well-established department comprising a team of specialist teachers and technicians with a broad range of creative and technical expertise. The department delivers a diverse curriculum across A-Levels in multiple art and design subjects and UAL Level 2, 3, and foundation provision, supporting students working in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Textiles and Fashion, 3D Design, and multidisciplinary art and design practice.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative technician team responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, organisation and maintenance of a wide range of specialist teaching and workshop facilities. These include wood and plastics workshop spaces, photography studios and darkroom facilities, printmaking equipment, ceramics facilities, and fashion and textiles resources. Equipment within the department includes laser cutters, bandsaws, circular sanders, sewing machines, heat presses, etching presses and kilns, alongside a wide range of hand tools, digital equipment and art materials.

The role would particularly suit applicants with practical making skills, an interest in art and design processes, and confidence working within creative workshop or studio environments. While experience across all specialist areas is not expected, applicants should be willing to develop technical knowledge and work flexibly across different areas of the department. Familiarity with workshop tools, equipment and relevant digital software, including Adobe Creative Suite, would be advantageous.

In return we offer a wide range of staff benefits and the opportunity to work within a thriving learning community.
