About the role
The core role is covering financial services legislation and regulation, with a focus on the UK. MLex seeks to get ahead of the procedural story through deep-dive analysis of current and emerging trends to anticipate where regulatory risks may lie. It’s a high-pressure beat in which there’s an expectation that you’ll break market-moving news while offering the forward-looking insight that helps inform decision-makers.

Responsibilities
- Conduct research and interviews, turn around urgent copy and write to deadline
- Identify stories that appeal to the readership. Use expertise to write big-impact investigations and commentary pieces
- Support senior journalists and editors by researching news stories or preparing information for coverage
- Understand and explain complex regulatory or policy topics, exercise strong news judgement and ensure attention to detail
Requirements
- Great reporting, media or publishing industry experience or knowledge
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work across international teams
- Commitment to producing high-quality, accurate reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Fluent command of English; ability in other European languages an advantage
- Newsroom experience, ideally from covering financial services regulation
