The Senior Commissioning Editor will proactively acquire and develop research content for print and online platforms in line with Legal Markets\β strategic direction.

Responsibilities
- Commission and manage high-quality content across multiple sectors, ensuring timely delivery from the best authors and providers.
- Drive growth by identifying new titles and editions, hitting commissioning and revenue targets.
- Develop and present clear, commercially viable business cases in collaboration with authors and stakeholders.
- Oversee the full commissioning process, managing budgets, schedules, and quality outputs.
- Manage portfolios and publications to meet revenue and cost targets, contributing to budgeting and forecasting.
- Negotiate and secure author contracts, including delivery schedules and remuneration.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with authors to support current and future commissioning.
- Work closely with internal teams to align commissioning plans with wider business strategy.
Requirements
- Recognised expertise in your practice area, with the ability to stay ahead of market and industry trends.
- Skilled in gathering and interpreting market intelligence, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform strategy.
- Proven track record in shaping sales and marketing plans that drive product growth and customer engagement.
- Commercially minded, able to spot opportunities, respond to market needs, and keep portfolios competitive.
- Confident using technology and AI tools to streamline research, workflows, and decision-making.
- Strong financial awareness with experience managing budgets, revenue, and costs while delivering to time and quality.
- Excellent communicator and influencer, able to build lasting relationships and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
- Self-starter with sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach others and lead projects.
