About our Team

Are you looking for a role that keeps you close to tax while moving you into AI, technology and workflow transformation? Do you want to help professional services firms and in-house tax teams redesign and scale how tax work gets done?

LexisNexis Legal & Professional, which serves customers in more than 150 countries with 11,800 employees worldwide, is part of RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. Our company has been a long-time leader in deploying AI and advanced technologies to the legal market to improve productivity and transform the overall business and practice of law, deploying ethical and powerful generative AI solutions with a flexible, multi-model approach that prioritises using the best model from today’s top model creators for each individual legal use case. The company employs over 2,000 technologists, data scientists, and experts to develop, test, and validate solutions in line with RELX Responsible AI Principles.

About the Role

At LexisNexis Legal & Professional, we help legal and tax professionals, businesses and institutions make better decisions, move faster and work with greater confidence. In the UK, our specialist tax brand, Tolley, provides trusted tax information, practical guidance and professional training. We’re looking for a Tax Engineer to help shape a new category of AI-enabled tax work. This is a role for someone who understands tax deeply, enjoys working with customers, and is excited by the opportunity to turn complex professional workflows into practical, scalable technology.

You’ll work closely with tax teams in professional services firms and in-house organisations to understand how tax work really gets done: the decisions, the judgment calls, the review steps, the handoffs and the pain points. Then you’ll help design, configure and launch AI-enabled workflows that make that work faster, more consistent and easier to scale. You will build trusted relationships with stakeholders ranging from individual tax practitioners through to Tax Partners, Heads of Tax, Tax Directors and firm owners, as well as Knowledge Management, Innovation, Operations and Technology teams.

You will use workflow adoption and usage data to identify barriers and expansion opportunities, demonstrate measurable customer value, and take ownership of progressing customers from initial engagement and activation through to sustained workflow usage across teams and tax disciplines. You’ll partner with Customer Success, Account Management, Tolley Product Development and Tax technical content teams to turn customer needs into working solutions. You’ll also play an important role in helping us learn from the field: identifying repeatable patterns, surfacing product opportunities and shaping how AI-enabled tax workflows evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Drive awareness, adoption and expansion of custom workflows across customer organisations, building the engagement and senior sponsorship needed to achieve sustained usage across teams and tax disciplines.
  • Own customer workflow adoption for the workflows you help identify, design and deploy, against defined targets, including customer engagement, workflow activation, deployment volume and ongoing usage.
  • Lead workflow discovery and design sessions with customers, analysing existing tax processes, identifying pain points and decision points, and determining where AI, automation and human judgement can be combined to improve how the work is delivered.
  • Work with Customer Success and Account Management to identify priority accounts and build structured workflow adoption and expansion plans.
  • Use workflow activation, deployment and usage data to identify adoption barriers, expansion opportunities and customer interventions.
  • Design, configure, test and deploy AI-enabled workflows and skills that are practical, accurate and usable in day-to-day tax work.
  • Lead customer and executive conversations that demonstrate value, build momentum and support broader adoption.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, translating feedback, requirements and adoption barriers into actionable insights for Product and Development teams.
  • Capture and share best practices, workflow patterns and reusable solutions across customers and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification in tax or accountancy (e.g. CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent), ideally with 3+ years' post-qualification experience gained within a Big Four or leading mid-tier accountancy/professional services firm, or a major in-house tax team.
  • Deep understanding of tax processes and workflows across one or more tax disciplines, with the ability to identify where technology and AI-enabled workflows can improve how tax work is delivered.
  • Demonstrable experience of working directly with customers or senior stakeholders to drive engagement, adoption or change, with confidence influencing stakeholders up to Partner, Head of Tax or firm-owner level.
  • Strong consulting, facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to proactively lead customer conversations, uncover high-value use cases and translate business problems into practical workflow solutions.
  • Commercially and outcome focused, with the ability to work against defined adoption and usage targets, use customer and product data to identify opportunities, and take ownership for progressing customers from initial engagement through to sustained workflow usage and expansion.
  • Strong aptitude for tax technology, AI and workflow transformation, with practical experience using generative AI or AI-enabled tools and the ability to become highly proficient in configuring, testing and deploying AI-enabled workflows and skills using the platform.
  • Excellent relationship-building and change-management skills, with the ability to mobilise different stakeholder groups within a customer organisation and help embed new ways of working into day-to-day tax practice.
  • A collaborative and continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to identify reusable workflow patterns, share best practice and translate customer feedback and adoption barriers into actionable insights for Product and Development teams.

Success in this Role

Success in this role is measured by the adoption and sustained use of Tolley+ Protégé and workflows across customer organisations. Successful Tax Engineers consistently engage priority customers, enable workflow capabilities within customer accounts, identify and deploy high-value workflows, and increase their active usage of Tolley+ Protégé across relevant teams and tax disciplines. They are able to take an ambiguous or manual tax process, understand how it works, turn it into a practical AI-enabled workflow, and see that workflow adopted and delivering measurable value in a real customer environment.

How performance will be measured includes:

  • number of customers actively engaged;
  • number of customer accounts enabled for Tolley+ Protégé and workflows;
  • workflow usage and sustained adoption within customer organisations;
  • expansion of successful workflows across additional teams, users and tax disciplines;
  • evidence of measurable customer value and outcomes.

Tax Engineers also turn what they learn in the field into reusable workflow patterns, product improvements and actionable insight for Product and Development teams.
