About the Team: Our innovation hub, Propulsion Labs, is dedicated to developing new products, data sets, and tools that deliver customer value. Projects evolve through three phases: Explore (1–2 people, 2-week deliverables), Discover (3–5 people, 1 month) and Grow (5+ people, 2 months). Success is measured by customer-facing demos, project momentum, and strong collaboration.

About the Role: At Cirium, we're transforming the aviation industry through cutting-edge analytics. As leaders in aviation data, we help our customers understand the past, navigate the present, and anticipate the future, leveraging over 300 terabytes of data from more than 2,000 sources.

Our innovation Lab Propulsion Labs is dedicated to developing new products that make 10x impact through disruptive innovation delivering customer value. Projects evolve through three phases:

  • Explore – Test Risky Ideas Fast: This stage is about answering: "Is this idea worth pursuing?" with 1–2 people up to a few weeks with a focus on rapid experimentation to validate feasibility, usability, and viability.
  • Discover: to prove the concept works in real-world conditions. 3–5 people, couple of months with a focus on building prototypes and engaging real users for feedback.
  • Grow: This stage ensures the idea becomes a sustainable, revenue-generating solution. (5+ people, Up to a year) looking to scale the product for market readiness and handoff to mainstream teams.

Success is measured by customer-facing demos, project momentum, and strong collaboration.

About you:

  • Experienced in Product & UX: You bring years of experience in product management and/or user experience, with a proven track record of delivering value-driven, usable solutions, ideally in tech-powered environments.
  • Problem Solver: You thrive on complexity, breaking down large challenges into manageable parts and using sound judgement to assess risks and make decisions.
  • Technically Fluent: Whether or not you code, you understand the technical landscape. You’re comfortable with design patterns, functional specs, wireframes, and visual interface design.
  • Adaptable: You embrace ambiguity and change, especially in environments where AI and UX best practices are evolving rapidly. You can pivot strategies based on user feedback and technological advancements.
  • Collaborative: You build strong relationships across engineering and business teams, influence without authority, and deliver results through teamwork.
  • Data-Driven: You use both qualitative and quantitative data to guide decisions, measure impact, and understand downstream effects.
  • Industry-Aware: You stay current by attending webinars, engaging with experts, and occasionally travelling to meet customers or attend conferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate multiple concurrent projects, from exploration to delivery, within Propulsion Labs' innovation framework.
  • Facilitate project team formation, internal recruiting, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Guide projects through structured phases (Explore, Discover, Grow), ensuring clear criteria for progression or termination.
  • Serve as the information hub for project teams, supporting decision-making and maintaining alignment with Propulsion Labs' strategic goals.
  • Champion a fail-fast mentality, encouraging experimentation and rapid iteration.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes transparently to all stakeholders.
  • Support a psychologically safe environment where all team members can contribute ideas and feedback.
  • Adapt to evolving project requirements and organizational priorities.
  • Conduct user research and analyse market trends to inform product decisions.
  • Continuously gather and incorporate user feedback to improve the product.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven success in shipping impactful products or features.
  • Strong proficiency with UI design/prototyping tools.
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry.
