About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Commissioning Editor to support the development of online Irish Practical Guidance. In this role, you will commission legal professionals to create practical content that helps users understand and apply Irish law efficiently. The role sits at the intersection of legal research, publishing, and project coordination. This position may suit candidates with a legal background or equivalent experience who are interested in legal content, publishing, or legal knowledge roles.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the commissioning process from content request through to publication, using agreed systems and tools.
- Research and identify suitable authors for specific practice areas and topics.
- Commission authors in collaboration with internal LexisNexis teams.
- Manage schedules, deadlines, and budgets for commissioned content.
- Negotiate and manage commissioning contracts.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external authors.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes.
- Track and report on content usage and progress using reporting and analytics tools.
Requirements:
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Understanding of how legal professionals use practical legal content, or the ability to develop this understanding.
- Confidence communicating with a range of stakeholders, including external legal professionals.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience working within structured processes and systems.
- An Irish law degree or equivalent legal knowledge or experience is desirable, but not essential.
