We are a small, collaborative, international team, handling a large volume of high-quality research, review and opinion submissions to drive thought leadership across all biomedical specialties. About the role
As an In-House Deputy Editor, you will oversee the creation and publication of original content. You will take ownership for overseeing submissions and quality peer reviews to ensure we publish high-quality content. You will build global relationships with people and institutes in the medical and research fields.
Responsibilities
- Support editorial decision‑making and contribute to the journal’s editorial strategy
- Help lead, coordinate, and support the editorial team in collaboration with the Editor‑in‑Chief
- Act as a delegate for the Editor‑in‑Chief when required
- Manage peer review processes and commission high‑quality content
- Stay informed on developments in biomedical and clinical research and relevant news
- Represent the journal at conferences, meetings, and institutional visits
- Write and commission editorials, reviews, and commentaries to strengthen the journal’s profile
- Contribute to continuous improvement through new initiatives and enhancements
Requirements
- Advanced training or equivalent experience in medical, biomedical, or related research fields
- Significant editorial experience, including senior‑level responsibility and team leadership
- Strong knowledge of biological and biomedical sciences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to collaborate and communicate constructively with diverse stakeholders and communities
- Confidence using common digital and office tools (e.g. MS Office or equivalent)
- A collaborative, inclusive approach to teamwork and project delivery
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required
