About the Role

Our team at Cirium faces the challenge of using contextual data to decipher what past travel patterns left unexplained. By disrupting historical travel patterns, Covid-19 made contextual data even more critical in predicting intention to travel. Restrictions, sentiment, and special circumstances influence today’s travel decisions more than ever. By joining us, you will have the opportunity to share ownership in solving this problem end to end, from exploring new data sources for building features to designing and putting predictive models into production and ensuring their consistent performance over time. We have terabytes of flights, events, and news data available, and we constantly add new data sources.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and deploy models improving travel demand prediction using contextual data and other industry sources.
  • Explore and extract signals from unstructured (news articles, event websites, and other text sources) data sources to explain anomalies in travel patterns.
  • Turn business objectives into engineering and modelling projects, break them down into manageable components, and deliver them autonomously.
  • Experiment with feature extraction, model design, and system evaluation.
  • Lead and mentor your team and colleagues as well as assist in hiring team members.

What we’re looking for:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or related technical field experience.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience in working in a production environment, following software engineering best practices, and operating with a scientific mindset.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
  • Ability to evaluate models keeping in mind performance, robustness, and maintainability.
  • Research or industry experience in machine learning modelling, infrastructure, natural language processing or deep learning.

About The Team

We are a technology and data science team acquired by Cirium, focused on bridging the gap between online media and industry through understanding how demographics make choices by what they have read. One of our primary products, Predict, leverages unstructured data around the web to measure intent for travel.
