Qualifications
Each school nurse must hold a current license issued by the State Board of Nursing to practice as a professional registered nurse or as a licensed practical nurse who is working under the supervision of a professional registered nurse.
Job Goal
Administer medical assistance and first aid to students according to district and school health program procedures. Refer students and guardians to community agencies and professionals as needed. Maintain school health records.

Performance Responsibilities
- Dispenses prescription and non-prescription medications as directed by physician
- Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential health records of students using the School Health Management Program and Powerschool software
- Obtains and maintains student immunization records
- Participates in district-wide health screening programs and determines if further medical consultation or treatment is necessary or advisable
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/district nurse
