Qualifications: Age 18 or older. High school diploma or GED preferred. Possess knowledge and understanding of children, initiative, the ability and willingness to work well with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy, and acceptance of individual differences among children.

Job Goal: To assist the driver in providing a safe and secure transportation environment.

Reports To: Transportation Coordinator

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with getting on and off the school bus safely.
  • Ensure students are safely secured in seats as applicable.
  • Monitor student behavior and ensure students are complying with transportation conduct guidelines.
  • Collaborate with bus driver to ensure safety of all students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: Works in standard school bus environment. Requires work that involves walking, standing, stooping, crouching, stretching, or lifting and exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis.

Terms of Employment: Based on Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 5. This is a part-time position in accordance with the needs of the district.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy.
