Contract & Working Pattern: Permanent – Night Working rate, projected annual pay over £30,000.
Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (primary hours Mon‑Thurs / Tue‑Fri 21:30 – 7:00).
Salary: £23,615 per year (Grade Band 2).

Job Overview: Join our existing dedicated Ancillary‑AVP Operative team at Batemoor Ambulance Station. Primary role is to deep‑clean frontline ambulance vehicles in line with the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements and maintain effective housekeeping of garage and associated clinical areas. Unsociable out‑of‑hours payment is provided: 41 % for hours between 20:00 and 06:00 and 83 % for all hours worked on Sundays.

Duties To Include: As an Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operative you will:

  • Prepare ambulance service vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is fully equipped and ready to attend and treat a patient.
  • Perform detailed cleaning and infection prevention and control activities.
  • Inspect medical and lifting & handling equipment, restock consumables, complete vehicle checks and re‑fuelling.
  • Record all daily activities and repatriate equipment from hospital trusts.
  • Travel to other ambulance stations throughout Yorkshire as required during your shift (transport provided).

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities: Driving licence requirement: Full C1 category licence valid in the UK.
Working days and times are dependent on operational demand and may include bank holidays, weekends and nights. Night and weekend working attracts unsocial payments.
Holiday entitlement: 27 – 33 days (pro‑rata) plus bank holidays (pro‑rata).
Successful candidates must be flexible, reliable, conscientious, detail‑oriented and able to work both individually and in a small team.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Previous cleaning experience – desirable.
    Working knowledge of COSHH / risk assessments – desirable.
    Previous knowledge of infection control procedures – desirable.
  • Personal / Other – Essential criteria: Driving licence with full Category C1 entitlement, valid in the UK.
    Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
    Ability to work unsocial hours on a 7‑day/24‑hour shift rota system.
  • Personal / Other – Desirable criteria: Previous experience of implementing effective infection prevention and control measures.
  • Qualifications And Knowledge – Essential criteria: Good literacy and numerical skills to pass required examinations and tests.
