Job Description (Competency Based)

Reports To: Senior Operations Manager / Divisional Director

Purpose: To direct, lead and coordinate the site in meeting client and company objectives, maintaining the highest possible standards of food service, overall performance whilst maximising efficiency and profitability.

Operation Skills: Incorporating - Role / Technical knowledge and Expertise / Results Orientated / Customer Service / Administrative Duties / Commercial Acumen.

  • Identify potential business opportunities and involve appropriate departments in conjunction with Senior Operations Manager / Divisional Director to maximise profitability of site.
  • Produce and agree all site operational plans in conjunction with The Clients and Senior Operations Manager / Divisional Director.
  • Produce annual site budget, quarterly forecasts and growth strategies in conjunction with Client and business needs, also required to consider cost saving initiatives.
  • Experience in managing and planning capital investment.
  • Build and maintain effective communication network with Clients at all levels ensuring quality information is exchanged when appropriate.
  • Work with Heads of Department on a day-to-day basis to increase and maintain 5-star service delivery, delivering profitability by taking actions as and when appropriate.
  • Plan and deliver site innovation and marketing ensuring all site communications are creative, professional and appropriate.
  • Ensure the food & beverage offer across the estate is innovative and creative including large events / day to day hospitality / multi-outlet retail.
  • Recruit, develop, appraise & review Heads of Department identifying training and development needs ensuring effectiveness in current role and future development.
  • Champion and monitor all Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, EMS, Talent Tool Box Career chats and all HR procedures.
  • Champion and monitor site CSR strategy, delivering annual CSR review with quarterly updates, champion local Green Force team.
  • Work closely with procurement and ensure that supply chain is as efficient and innovative as possible.
  • Ensure all company and client legislative policies and procedures are met, ensuring consistent compliance across all sites.
  • Ensure a creative approach is taken to food and service and all site standards exceed Lexington’s and Client’s expectations.
  • Manage weekly / monthly / quarterly financial performance / forecasting, invoicing and client reporting.
  • Develop and agree with Senior Operation’s Manager / Divisional Director effective business retention strategies.
  • Assist Senior Operations Manager / Divisional Director with planning and achieving all Company strategic business objectives.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in Group / Large site management (turnover circa £4+ million) / 7 of 7 operation.
  • Detailed knowledge of B&I and event catering sector.
  • Commercial (5 star Hotels & Restaurant) knowledge advantageous.
  • Proven experience of managing Hospitality (Events, Fine Dining) and multi-retail outlets.
  • Multi-site experience advantageous.

Interpersonal Skills: Incorporating - Leadership / Communication / Planning & Organising / Financial acumen / Managing the Business / Customer Focus / Problem Solving / Decision Making / Negotiating / Influencing / Team Building / Presentation skills – written and aural / Creative / Nurture and Develop.

To assist with the development of company and self to ensure continuous pro-active progression. Ensure that Heads of Department can relate to current policies and procedures to ensure quality service and ownership of individual bigger management. Proven experience in recruitment, development, evaluating, team structuring and restructuring. Ensure that the site team are managed effectively and fully compliant with all company procedures and processes. Ensure Heads of Department are developed effectively by use of annual career conversations, reviews and target setting on a monthly basis and ensure any actions are carried out promptly and responsibly. Ensure communication lines are developed with the team and Client to ensure all company matters are shared appropriately.
