About the Firm

Lexington Ashworth Solicitors is an SRA-regulated law firm providing nationwide legal services. As part of our growth strategy, we are establishing a new Criminal Litigation Department, which is currently in the development phase and will operate on a remote and flexible basis. We are committed to delivering high-quality, well-governed and client-focused criminal defence services, with professionalism, integrity and strong technical standards at the core of our approach.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Criminal Litigation Solicitor (5+ years’ PQE) to play a key role in the development and future leadership of our criminal practice. This role is suitable for a solicitor who is already operating at a senior and technically strong level, including Duty Solicitor work, and who meets the legal competence expected of a criminal supervisor, with a view to taking on supervisory responsibilities as the department develops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of criminal litigation matters, including police station attendance, Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court work
  • Act as a Duty Solicitor, providing advice and representation at police stations and courts
  • Conduct advocacy and provide strategic advice on complex criminal matters
  • Contribute to the development of robust systems, processes and quality standards
  • Support and mentor junior practitioners as the team grows
  • Prepare to assume formal supervisory responsibilities as the department expands

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) in good standing
  • 5+ years’ PQE in criminal litigation
  • Accredited Duty Solicitor
  • Strong and demonstrable experience across the criminal justice process
  • Meets the legal competence expectations associated with criminal supervision, including breadth of casework, advocacy experience and procedural knowledge
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or flexible environment
  • Professional, structured and compliance-focused approach to practice
