Join Lexia Education Services and be the positive change a young person needs. At Lexia, we believe every young person deserves the chance to unlock their unique potential and that the right support can mean the difference between giving up and rising up. We are redefining the calibre of educational support in the UK, pioneering Youth Support Mentors with real stories, real experiences and the ability to connect deeply with our most at-risk young people.

When you focus on your values, your standards, and your truth, the right people find you. At Lexia, we believe mentoring isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room; it’s about being the steady one. The one who shows up, listens without judgement, and stays when things get difficult. Because for many young people, consistency is rare. Belief is rare. Feeling truly seen is rare. We don’t chase young people to change; we create spaces where they feel safe enough to grow. When they feel safe, everything shifts.

If you lead with empathy, if you believe progress can be quiet, and if you know that one steady adult can change a life’s direction, you already understand what we’re building.

As a Youth Support Mentor in Weston-super-Mare, you’ll work directly with young people facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs (SEN), by delivering a unique blend of intervention through both sport and academic support. You can help re-engage students with their education and learning. Whether you’ve worked in youth support before or are simply someone with empathy and drive, ready to venture into something new and rewarding, you’ll be welcomed, trained, and empowered to grow in a role that truly changes lives.

Here’s what sets Lexia Education Services apart:

  • Genuine Impact: Your time, energy, and presence will help shape stronger, safer futures for young people with SEN and SEMH navigating complex emotional journeys.
  • Bring your experience, we’ll help you grow: We value experience working with young people. It isn't essential; however, we do prioritise people with experience. Once in your role, you will have access to full training and ongoing mentorship, and you’ll be supported to grow into the role with confidence from day one.
  • Somerset-Based & Community-Led: Work locally, build real relationships, and see the difference you’re making every day.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Youth Support Mentor:

  • You’ll be working in a school and community setting in Weston-super-Mare, providing individualised mentoring to students who need consistent, trusted role models.
  • Mentor 1:1 or in Small Groups: Support young people with SEMH and SEN through their daily journeys, meeting their personal and emotional needs.
  • Encourage Expression Through Creativity: Use art, music, sport, or your own specific skills to help students engage with their school work and connect to their peers.
  • Support Emotional Regulation: Help young people develop their coping skills, offer calm guidance, and help students build resilience.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour: Use trauma-informed approaches and Team Teach techniques to reinforce boundaries in a compassionate way.
  • Collaborate with Educators & Families: Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students with SEMH and SEN.

What Lexia Education Services Offers You:

  • Fully Funded Training: Including Team Teach Certification.
  • Competitive Pay: Earn £109.50 – £130 per day, depending on your placement.
  • Mileage Covered: Receive £0.45 per mile for community-based, outreach travel.

  • CPD & Professional Development: Access ongoing training, support networks, and mentoring.
  • Inclusive, Values-Led Community: Feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who you are and what you bring.

You might have experience in youth work, coaching, mental health, social care, or creative sectors. Or maybe you’ve supported someone close to you and discovered your calling along the way. If you bring patience, empathy, and commitment, we’ll help you develop the skills you need.
