Are you a leveraged finance or knowledge lawyer looking for something completely different? Do you want more balance outside of work, but still want to stay close enough to the deals to keep the buzz - and remain plugged into how AI is transforming legal workflows and how transactions are actually being done?
This role is about stepping out of the deal - not away from it, but above it. Seeing patterns across transactions. Understanding how terms evolve across sponsors, lenders, and structures. Designing AI-enabled systems that don’t just support deals, but actively reshape how every deal gets done through smarter workflows, automation, and better use of data and knowledge.
As Leveraged Finance AI Knowledge Counsel, leveraged finance experience is applied in a more strategic, innovation-focused way. Working closely with partners in London, the focus is on the full ecosystem around deal execution - how knowledge is captured and structured as AI-ready data, how precedents become searchable and intelligent resources, how insights are surfaced in real time, and how AI tools are embedded directly into workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making across transactions.
At first, it feels familiar. Precedents, deal summaries, term trackers. But here, they don’t stay static. They become structured, tagged, and searchable - built not just for lawyers to read, but for AI to understand. You start to see what happens when knowledge becomes truly usable at scale.
Then the role expands. You’re testing tools, challenging workflows, and spotting friction points others have just learned to live with. You help a junior lawyer get up to speed in days instead of weeks. You give partners immediate visibility on market positions. You enable the team to move with more clarity, consistency, and confidence.
AI becomes part of the fabric of how the team works - not a concept, but something practical. Embedded into workflows, improving output, and supporting judgement rather than replacing it. And beyond the team, you shape what clients experience. Sharper pitches. Smarter insights. Faster, more informed responses. Not because people are working longer hours, but because the system around them is working better.
This will suit a leveraged finance lawyer or knowledge lawyer who understands sponsor-backed and direct lending transactions and enjoys thinking about how things could be done better. You don’t need to have all the answers on AI or legal tech, but you do need curiosity, a practical mindset, and an interest in shaping what comes next.
You’re not stepping away from leveraged finance. You’re stepping into how it evolves - and helping define what that looks like.
