This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, commercially driven individual with a passion for swimming and a flair for team management. The Swim Manager is a pivotal role, responsible for the commercial success, sales, programming, development, and operations of the Learn to Swim programme across the Riviera International Centre and Torbay Leisure Centre. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the school swimming programme and implementing the Swimsafe programme in partnership with Swim England.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Focus: Drive income and retention using KPIs, manage sales targets, create competitor analysis (SWOT), and champion customer experience through the 'Safer, Smarter, Stronger' USP.
- Programme Management: Maximise pool space/timetabling, ensure the highest level of customer service, maintain compliance with company processes, and develop positive working relationships with local schools and clubs.
- Observation and Mentoring: Provide direct line management to the team of swim teachers, oversee scheduling, ensure NRASTC qualifications are current, and be responsible for the interview, induction, and training of new staff.
- Marketing & Communication: Develop and maintain a monthly marketing plan (inreach, outreach, social media), provide regular updates to swimmers, and attend regular regional and site-based manager meetings.
We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates initiative, critical and creative thinking, and a strong collaborative spirit.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified IOS Level 2 Swimming Teacher or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of learn-to-swim programmes and the National Governing Bodies framework.
- Previous experience managing, supervising, and mentoring a team.
- Desirable: NRASTC or NPLQ and First Aid at Work certificate, or a willingness to obtain these.
Personal Attributes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of national trends and best practice in the aquatic industry.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced, results-oriented team.
- Strong experience in the development and implementation of grassroots sports programme management, ideally in an aquatic environment.
