Job Description

The role of Recreation Assistant is a great position to be involved in a full range of leisure activities. It is a customer-facing role that offers rewarding opportunities, including meeting new people and engaging in varied activities. Recreation Assistants will perform duties at both wet and dry sites.

Primary Objectives for the Recreation Assistant include:

• To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users of the Leisure Centre.
• To assist in managing all aspects of the Centre\’s daily activities.

The Recreation Assistant/Lifeguard will focus on the following tasks:

• Guiding, caring for, and assisting all Leisure Centre customers.
• Fostering a friendly yet efficient working relationship with Centre users.
• Working as part of a team to meet the Centre\’s objectives and usage targets.
• Innovating ideas and initiating actions to increase Centre usage.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and comfort of all facilities.
• Assisting the Duty Manager with the control and security of the facility, including patrolling and equipment safety.
• Being aware of and implementing health and safety procedures, identifying unsafe practices.
• Ensuring the safety and security of all parts of the Centre when not in use.
• Covering duties of other staff as required.
• Performing any other duties necessary for the smooth operation of the Centre.
• Portraying a positive image of the Leisure Centre by wearing the provided uniform while on duty.

Candidate Requirements

The candidate must possess a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
